On my way out to Lake Chelan for some Memorial Day weekend fun with the high school friends I decided to take a detour to try and find a way to take some photos of those giant windmills you always see on the way to the Gorge. I hopped off I-90 and drove the Old Vantage Highway outside Kittitas. 20 minutes later I found myself at a big sign to the Wild Horse Renewable Energy Center. I took that driveway up a couple miles and was able to get all these awesome photos! I ended up spending about 2 hours on top of this super windy hill, taking photos and sharing stories with an older photographer / gentleman in a Toyota camper-bus.

If you have time for a detour on your next trip to the Gorge I highly recommend stopping here. These windmills are simple yet amazing.
